Maybe it sounds a little weird, but over the past two weeks I have been heavily self medicating and I have found the best remedy for coming down with a flu/flu-like something, is exercising. Seriously, after every workout I feel energized and reborn instead of like a sick person. Speaking of sick persons, the boy ate chicken yesterday and now lies in bed totally immobilized. Bad chicken!
Other choices of self medication have been:
- Drinking lots of tea and water
- Drinking fruit smoothies
- Taking hot baths
- Eating tons of fruit
- Gorgling with salt water
- Eating tons of dark chocolate
- Buying bikinis online. Hey, something to live for right?!
After having somewhat of a workout burnout, I seem to have my workout mojo back 150% which feels awesome. It has also sparked me to write some exercise related posts. I already have three topics in mind, but is there anything you‘d like to see on the blog?
Now I’d like to dedicate a moment to this awesome lunch I threw together yesterday: 5 minute pizza! Ok, so maybe not literally 5 minutes, but pretty close nevertheless. Remember the breakfast pizza I made over the weekend? Well it hasn’t made a reappearance yet since I can’t get over my pumpkin baked oatmeal breakfast, but I did want to do something with the recipe since it’s such a fun and quick one. I decided to make a savory version for lunch, and the 5 minute pizza was born!
I simply forfeited the protein powder and agave and instead added a lot of garlic powder, dried basil, oregano, parsley and coriander. I also used whole Spelt flour instead of whole wheat pasrty flour, and subbed 1 T applesauce for oil. The result was a hearty flatbread, that I topped with veggies just like you would a pizza (but no tomato sauce, I’m not a fan!).
Topped with: spinach, half a paprika, olives, a small onion, garlic, olive oil, pepper & salt. ‘t was delicious, and really quick to whip up! I’ll type out the recipe today or tomorrow!
Another slice of heaven, right there. Dark chocolate, almonds, hazelnuts, raisins & dried cherries.
Well I was planning on going to spin class this morning but I’ll stay home and take care of the boy and run some errands around here.
I’m curious: how do you self medicate?
Love,
Sabine

- watching loads of dvds
- going to bed very early
- floradix
- and against a cold, a sliced union next to my bed, grandma’s trick but works like a charm. My cold is a lot better today
- amd yeah online shopping;)
yeah I should go to bed earlier but life gets in the way….
that onion things sounds so cool mohahhaa. but im still busy on gorgling salt water (oh I should add to the list)
see ya tonight babe I’ll sneeze some germs in your direction :p
Work is my life, so that’s where I am awake the rest of the time is pretty much spend sleeping!
And Don’t forget it’s salt water sniffing;)
Btw they say boiling an onion and drinking the water also helps against a cold, but you know in fashion you can’t really smell like union… so haven’t tried that!
See you tonight, I’ll wear a mouth cap, very Mickel Jackson
ahh i love that pizza thing!! yes i would love to see some workout posts
.. i usually drink a lot of water and do a little bit of exercise!
yeah when I;m really sick sick, no way I workout. but thats the thing I don’t have a fever, just other symtoms haha.
I totally believe in self-medicating if you’re not ill for real! I usually turn to good/comfort/warm food and sleeping or just resting in bed with a cheesy movie or a tv show. Shower also definitely helps and, if I’m not feeling too weak, I go for a nice walk outside.
Yes the fresh air thing totally works, which is why I am so bummed out the weather has gone to shits here today! somehow I don’t think walking in the rain will do me any good
. showering/bathing is nice too indeed. hm now I crave a batha agin!
Genius! That is all.
lol
I haaave to make that pizza. Like tomorrow maybe.
Self medicating for me involves a lot of annies pasta and alphaghetti. Carbo load much?
